Tanzania 2020

Scout HQ has launched the latest in its series of National Expeditions – Tanzania 2020.

Closing dates for leader applications is 30th September 18, and for team members it is 21st October 18.

This is a follow on from Hampshire County Scouts past expeditions to Tanzania in 2012, 2015 and 2017, with the expedition leader remaining the same – Jools Sore (ACC(International) for Hampshire Scouts), and the deputy expedition leader with Claire Turner (International Advisor in Surrey)

The expedition will follow the previous pattern of a 4 week expedition in the summer school holidays in 2020. The main focus will be on a community project (such as building / renovating Schools and Medical Centres), and a Safari and some activities.

By going National, the expedition is now open to anybody in the UK, but concentrating on Counties in Southern England, where all of the selection and training events will take place. The expedition has also expanded, and is now looking for 144 Explorers (as of July 2020), and 30 Leaders to form 6 teams.

We are obviously hoping for a strong response from Hampshire, having been heavily involved in the previous expeditions.

Therefore, please promote this expedition to Scouts current aged 12 or over, and to Explorers currently aged under 16, and of course, leaders that may be interested.

For more details, please visit the website at www.int-scout.org.uk The website contains Question and Answer sheets, and the links to the on-line application forms.

There are more expedition opportunities coming for 2020, it could be a very exciting year (Sussie Adventure and European Scout Jamboree to Poland are coming...).
